Every year the district, in conjunction with other North County water agencies, hosts a poster contest for fourth graders to celebrate “Water Awareness Month.” Fourth grade students in each of the North County water agencies’ service areas submit posters illustrating the importance of water. Three winners selected by the district are eligible to compete in the regional contest against winners from eleven other water agencies and to possibly have their poster appear in a Water Awareness calendar. A limited number of the calendars, displaying the artwork of district and regional winners, are available at the district office. Every February, the district's staff visit classrooms and give presentations on the theme for the current year’s contest. Calendars and contest entry forms are distributed to fourth grade classes in the district’s service area. Entry forms are due at the end of March.
